SUMMARY:CARBON & BEYOND
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a frank discussion about the pro’s and con’s of the carbon and other ecological credit systems gaining momentum. There is no doubt that these emerging income streams are going to play an increasing part of your farm balance sheet in the future. \nWe have chosen a national panels of speakers to ensure all sides of the story are examined. \n9.15-10.15 am Anne Coote – Climate Friendly joining us via ZOOM will discuss both soil and tree carbon; the methodologies and first steps to take if you are thinking of alternative income streams utilizing carbon. \n10.15 -10.45 am Dan & Emma-Jane Burnham – Burnham Grazing  \nDan & Emma Jane will give their first hand experience of navigating both soil and tree carbon on their 2400 hectare property at Thangool. \nMorning Tea (included) \n11:15 – 12:15 Graeme Hand – Hand for the Land \n\n\nGraeme’s work around the practicalities of carbon measurement have unearthed a number of problems yet to be overcome in carbon methodologies.  As a leading HRM advocate however\, he also provides insight into how to cost effectively increase and maintain soil organic carbon levels.  Graeme’s cross-section of experience makes him a widely sought after speaker on this topic.\n \n\n\n\n\nThere will be an opportunity for a short field walk to demonstrate simple monitoring and corrective actions to make sure your management is on track \n\n\n12:15-1:15 Chrissy Elmer and Amanda Hansson – Accounting for Nature  \nThe Accounting for Nature® Framework is free to be used by any organisation or individual to measure the biophysical condition of environmental assets (e.g. native vegetation\, soils\, freshwater\, native fauna\, marine) in a project area\, across an entire property\, or within a region\, state or even across a nation. The Framework also provides an optional paid certification pathway for interested parties to have their environmental accounts recognised as either “Self-verified” or third-party “Certified” by Accounting for Nature Ltd. These accounts can be used for underpinning government and philanthropic grants\, issuance and tracking of green bonds and other financial instruments\, monitoring the efficacy of sustainable land management activities\, consumer labelling on food and fibre products\, undertaking due diligence on impact investments\, and credibly linking environmental co-benefits to carbon offset units under different internationally recognised standards. This session will go over the core of the Accounting for Nature® Framework\, and will provide examples of some of the methods that are available for free download by landholders. We will also discuss our different certification pathways\, and outline the account development process. \n  \nOptional field walk afterwards. Lunch available for purchase beforehand. \n  \nBOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL – PLEASE CLICK THE BELOW LINK TO BE TAKEN TO THE TRY BOOKING PAGE \n \nMore about our speakers…. \nANNE COOTE – leads Climate Friendly’s sourcing of carbon projects in the Productive Agriculture region. She has extensive experience as a landholder in agriculture production systems\, managing her property “Neringla” on Kamilaroi country west of Moree.
